Rachel, your cover looks like a really good contents page but not that much like a cover! Try to amalgamate (join together) some of the text on the contents page with the layout and images on the 'cover' - you won't be able to use all of either of the pages but you can choose the best text and use most of the images to make a great contents page. For the cover, take a single medium (from waist up) or medium close up (from shoulders up)shot of someone's face to be your main image, your cover star. Around this, you can put the cover lines and in space at the sides / bottom of the page, put a couple of smaller images in if you want and include a barcode or competition / special feature in a 'puff' shape (starburst always looks a bit cheap and nasty but will be fine in this prelim)
